Basketball Legend Bill Walton Will Headline the Awards Banquet
The U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) and the Missouri Athletic Club (MAC) are partnering to host the College Basketball Awards dinner on Wednesday, April 12 at the MAC's downtown location in St. Louis. The top men’s and women’s players and coaches in college basketball for the 2022-23 season will be honored. The banquet will feature the presentation of the Wayman Tisdale Award (men’s freshman of the year) to Brandon Miller of Alabama. The Tamika Catchings Award (women’s freshman of the year) will be presented to Ta’Niya Latson from Florida State. The Henry Iba Award (men’s coach of the year) will be presented to Shaka Smart of Marquette. The Women’s Coach of the Year Award will go to Dawn Staley from South Carolina. The Oscar Robertson Trophy (men’s national player of the year) will be presented to Zach Edey of Purdue and the presentation of the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award (women’s player of the year) will go to Caitlin Clark of Iowa. The USBWA will present the “Good Guy” award to Mike Brey, the winningest coach in Notre Dame men’s basketball history. Basketball Hall of Famer and three-time Oscar Robertson Trophy award-winner Bill Walton will be the event’s featured speaker.
