Women of Distinction Luncheon

The Missouri Athletic Club annually recognizes women in the St. Louis region who are demonstrating tremendous vision and mentorship in business, civic and philanthropic endeavors. Since 2011, more than 50 honorees have been celebrated for making an impact in many different ways and all have been selected for their outstanding demonstration of excellence, growth, grit/determination and empathy.

In 2024, the MAC will continue the tradition of honoring four women from the community and one Rising Star. The Rising Star should be someone 35 years of age or less who is leading the next generation of professional women to new heights.

Nominations are invited once per year, and the honorees are selected through a blind-selection process via The WoD Selection Committee. Separately, the WoD Planning Committee meets throughout the year leading up to the luncheon to assist with details. 2024 Women of Distinction Chairs: Governor Carrie Burggraf and Lauren Hieger.

The Women's Initiative Group

History

Established in 2011 as a Membership sub-committee to encourage female engagement across the Club and increase efforts to recruit more exceptional women to join the MAC, The Women's Initiative Group (WIG) continues today with its efforts to support the interests and needs of female members.

Over the years, female Membership has grown at the Club, increasing the relevance and significance of the group. WIG has become instrumental in helping women, both new and long-time members, to feel welcomed and represented at the Club. Through these efforts, women's thoughts and voices have become ingrained into everyday Club life and leadership by dedicated female board members, staff members and frequent Club-goers.
